Special Interest Groups

To better serve our local alumni, the Wharton club of Boston has developed a series of interest groups to provide focused programming and community support around the specific needs of a subset of alumni. Two groups are already hosting regular programming, and several others are in active development. If you are interested, please contact the listed group organizer or Alex Brown [email protected] for any groups that do not yet have an official organizer.

Active Groups

Wharton Club Community Service (Organizer: Nancy Csaplar)

The Wharton Club organizes and encourages engagement with fellow alumni and Boston civic organizations through a variety of community service endeavors. In partnership with Community Consulting Teams of Boston (CCT Boston) over the past seven years, some 75 Wharton Alumni have volunteered on teams of MBA’s from top business schools to provide pro bono management consulting to Boston-area nonprofits, including Commonwealth Shakespeare, Roca, The House of Seven Gables, and North Shore Community College. In addition, the Wharton Club partners with the Penn Club every year to engage alumni and their families to in community service events with organizations such as the Greater Boston Food Bank and the Esplanade Association.

Wharton Women in Boston (Organizer: Liana Metzger)

The Wharton Women in Boston host social, networking, and continuing education/speaker programming focused on the specific needs of female professionals in the greater Boston area. Events are held roughly once per quarter, and are listed in the regular Wharton Club of Boston calendar.

Recent Alumni (Organizer: Patricia Liu)

We've had tremendous success reaching our recent Wharton alumni through networking events across Boston. Whether it was our Beers Across the World happy hour, our New Admit social, or the many cross-school events now promoted on our Facebook website, it has been an exciting year! In the upcoming months, we're excited to welcome in a fresh batch of Wharton '16 grads to our beautiful city and anticipate many more events that will bring everyone together. In the meantime, stay in the know on our Facebook group and in our GroupMe conversation (note: to join, please contact Patricia Liu, VP Recent Alumni).

Wharton Alumni Angel Network (Organizer: Michelle Fan)

Wharton Alumni Angel Network (WAAN) Boston provides a forum to connect and nurture relationships between angel investors, mentors and entrepreneurs through pitch sessions from top-tier startups, education programs, and mentorship initiatives. For alumni angels, we provide opportunities to meet and evaluate presenting companies, network and collaborate with fellow investors, increase their investment portfolios, and sharpen their knowledge. For entrepreneurs, WAAN Boston helps them grow their companies and enhance their skills and knowledge. For mentors, we have a forum to connect and advise growing start-up companies. Since its founding, WAAN has also become a part of a strong, growing global network. We have affiliation with groups based domestically in other major cities in the US, as well as internationally in Latin America, UK, Asia, and Middle East.
