Wharton Alumni Angel Network (WAAN) is an official, non-profit, alumni interest group that brings together Penn/Wharton angel investors and entrepreneurs. The group hosts pitch events and education events throughout the year. WAAN was relaunched in NYC in 2013, and has subsequently launched a SoCal (2015) and Silicon Valley chapter (2016). A group of Boston based alumni is looking to launch a chapter in the Boston area as well, taking advantage of the network effect and the great entrepreneurial community locally.
The initial interest meeting is at 6:30 pm on May 23rd. We hope you can join us. Please RSVP here. If you are interested in participating but are unable to attend the info session, please fill out the RSVP form anyway or email Michelle Fan.
Our biggest value propositions:
- Promote Collaboration – The three chapters share deals and ideas. NYC chapter also does collaborative events with HBS Alumni Angel and Wharton Retail Network annually.
- Resources from the School - As an official alumni group, we get resources (eg. access to school clubs, professors, alumni and entrepreneurs) from the school.
- Low Risk. High Quality - Angels have no requirement for minimum investment. WAAN is strictly an interest group. It does not invest in deals and it does not profit from the network. Despite the low risk, we offer high quality deals. All deals pitched at pitch event (5 to 6 companies per event) are hand-selected from dozens of selections. WAAN as a whole is also Angel Capital Association (ACA) accredited.
We look forward to seeing you at the info session. For more info about WAAN, you can check out the website.
